Preview Walk

When I do an Exhibition it usually has a Preview, so on Saturday April 29th I decided to do a "Preview" for my Big Walk (starting May 13th.) What could be more fitting than to go up onto the hills that are closest to my home, and stand where a turbine would be? It was an absolutely perfect day, so I took loads of photographs, a few of which I am showing on the next few pages. .

The Fullabrook Down Wind Factory site - if it built - will cover an area of many miles, from near West Down and Ilfracombe in the north to the line of hills above Braunton and the Taw Estuary in the south. It will turn one of the quietest and most peaceful areas of South West England into an industrial site.

On  Saturday April 29th I walked up the hill from Bradiford, just outside Barnstaple,  to Luscott Barton, then up through Ash Wood and across the hill to Pippacott. I came home via Whitehall, Prixford, Higher Blakewell Farm and Tutshill Woods, taking footpaths wherever possible.

It was a most beautiful day, with a blue sky and a light breeze. The Devon hedgerows at this time of year are studded with wild flowers.

I kept stopping to photograph the primroses, the stitchwort, the violets, the first bluebells, the blackthorn blossom....As you can see, there isn`t very much traffic on these roads.
