Requiem for the Moor by Simon Rivett
Requiem for the Moor, 2004
Oil on Canvas/Board 4 feet by 3.5 feet.
Simon Rivett, Isle of Lewis
My work has become increasingly drawn to the moor.
Its vast open vista, constantly changing colour and light.
I object to the windfarm because I believe it is too large. It is industrial
in scale. The turbines are completely out of proportion to the low lying
peat moors of Lewis. It will alter the feel of the landscape and leave
additional scars in the form of quarries and roads.
